June Eric-Udorie. – Activist #Hope4LifeTour
At the age of 14, Udorie learnt of how her mother was saved from Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) by the intervention of her grandmother. She joined the Plan UK’s Youth Advisory Panel and thus begun her activism.
She co-founded “Youth for Change” with other young activists, an organization fully funded by the UK government that works to end violence against women in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Tanzania and the UK.
In 2016, she successfully led a petition to have the study of feminism added to the A-level politics curriculum in the UK. She is also an accomplished writer whose works have been featured in the Guardian, the New Statesman and the Daily Telegraph.
She was listed on BBC’s 2016 list of 100 Influential and Inspiring Women and named 2017 Female Activist of the Year by Elle Magazine on Internal Women’s Day. Be inspired!
